Stacked Liquitote® Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC)
Liquitote metal IBC containers are designed and tested to Title 49 CFR specifications for double stacking. Stacking IBC containers is an efficient way to maximize the use out of your warehouse space. For most Liquitote IBC’s, Hoover recommends that end users only stack IBC’s 2 high when full and 3 high when empty when stored in a warehouse.

Product Details
Liquitote IBC’s are a cost-effective, sound capital investment which can be amortized over its long life. Liquitotes are refillable and durable. Many of the first Liquitote Tote Tanks were made over 50 years ago are still in use today. The Liquitote IBC features radius corner legs for protection and under-clearance for fork lift or pallet jack handling. Hoover's advanced manufacturing technology provides a one-piece Liquitote body, 10-gauge (.135”/3.4 mm), stainless steel construction and single-seam welding, which has greater strength due to a 50% less weld area. All tanks are manufactured with sloped bottoms and 2” (5.08 cm) ball valve discharge and safety cap.
The Liquitote Intermediate Bulk Container meets the following UN and DOT Qualifications:
- DOT UN31A permits the shipment of flammable and combustible liquids authorized by Title 49 CFR for land and sea transportation of hazardous liquid materials of packaging groups II and III.
- Allowable (per DOT) modes of transportation: motor vehicle, rail freight, cargo vessel, or air freight. Liquitote® IBC’s are built to UN specification in Hoover’s ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturing plant. NMFC Item 21032, Sub 1, Class 125
- Stainless steel Liquitote tote tanks are UN 31A qualified on all sizes up to 793-gallon (3001 liters)
The stainless steel Liquitote IBC is fully equipped and available in capacities from 120 to 793 gallons (454.2 to 3001 liters), including our most popular Liquitote, the 350 gallon (1325 liter) tote tank and the 550 gallon (2082 liter) tote tank.

LIQUITOTE® Carbon Steel IBCS
Hoover also manufactures a line of Liquitote Carbon Steel tanks. Carbon steel IBCs are less expensive than stainless steel IBC’s and are extremely impact resistant and durable. Carbon IBCs are not as compatible with as many materials as is stainless steel. While they are corrosion resistant, carbon IBCs are more susceptible to rust than stainless steel IBCs. All steel IBCs are re-useable, allow easy filling and dispensing, and are environmentally friendly as they reduce clean-up and disposal concerns.
Carbon steel has following characteristics:
- Corrosion resistance, outside painted coating
- Great strength
- High fatigue strength
- Toughness
